Default Do your kids have chore lists? - 06-14-2007, 06:15 AM

Mine do. And they get paid 50 cents a day for completion of the chores. They lose the money for that day if they complain about doing their job but still have to do the chore.

Kids doing chores takes some of the load off of you so you can do other things around the house.

They even make my bed but that's for gratification. And they put away their clothes and wash plastic dishes. They are 6, 7 and 9.

My childrens' chores are relatively simple - they alternate doing dishes and then they are required to pick up after themselves in the rest of the house. If dusting or vacuuming are done, it's usually for some form of reward like I will say, "Wow, I was thinking we'd all go get out of the house for a bit, but we can't do anything until the livingroom's dusted and vacuumed."

You'd be surprised how fast that place gets cleaned up Then, for a reward, we will go somewhere like out to the movies or go take a walk around the museum, etc.

I have to be crafty now that mine are older (17 and 13).

My kids just graduated from putting the plastics in the dishwasher away to emptying the whole thing.

I have more time for other things I'd like to get to.

I saw a tv show where the lady had her 6-tpulets load their dishes in the washer. That took the load off of her. I wish I would have done this with my kids but I'm too particular with how it's loade.

I have four children but only my oldest is able to do chores. He is to keep his room and his bathroom clean as well as help keep the living room clean. He also picks up the yard so we can mow. He doesn't get an allowance since these are things that he is going to have to do regardless. However, if he does keep his room clean, etc all week long. He will be rewarded.
