Default Kids room - 06-14-2007, 05:40 AM

I give them containers and plenty of room but they still mess the whole thing up. They seem to mix everything up as well.

Are they normal or just slobs in the making?

Hehe they're just normal. You just have to take the time and patience out to stand over top of them a few times and make them put stuff away. We used to turn the lights off and then on again, half an hour before bedtime and then it was time to sing a song together as we were picking everything up and putting it away. If everything got all cleaned up and done right, that meant that we had more time to read a bedtime story. If they did it wrong, they had to redo it and that often meant a shorter story till they caught on.

I used to hover and sit in and supervise but they're six and 7 now and I don't have that kind of time. I've just come to realize that they just need time to learn to organize their stuff. I tell them that their room is like their appartment and they need to take care of it. I cleaned it out and took over half of their toys out and it's much easier on them.

I just got them to learn how to make their bed in a nice looking way and they even learned to change thier bedding.

I'll take the good with the bad and overlook the rest.
