Default Small kids and organization. - 06-19-2007, 10:09 PM

Don't fret. Do a little at a time. I did it while the kids ate meals and did morning play time. I didn't over schedule myself then because it tends to make your day more hecktic. Plan to stay at home more often while the kids are young and plan an outing twice a week. I made my back yard a wonderland and would clean and organize while they were occupied. Then after lunch it was my time to nap or relax.

Don't over do it while the kids are young. They'll be the ones to suffer for it.

Seems to me I was able to stay more organized when my kids were smaller. Nap time was the greatest time, but as they get older it seems there is just little time and they are making greater messes.

Yes they do make bigger messes now, the only difference is that I make them clean it up. And they are having bigger chores now. It's nice. I no longer have t do trash, emty the dshwasher, make beds and cleam walls and cupboard doors. I just give them a list and they complete it.

My kids have a chore list themselves, doesn't neccessarily mean they actually do their chores properly. It gets down right irritating at times, considering their chores are based on messes that they make. Like for instance they still drop food on the floor when they eat (and yes this is a teenager and a pre-teen), so they are responsible for cleaning the floor.

I have a teenager, and I have learned that teenagers, and organization do not mix. I definitely need to find a way to get her to keep her room clean.

You do that stuff when they are older not when they are younger. When they become older thats when you will have more time to do the extras but you have to learn how to balance that stuff while they are small as well. It may be difficult but you will get used to it.

My son just turned 14 yesterday and his sister isn't far behind him. I'll have two teenagers at once. I don't envy you Carebear, I don't envy you at all.

Ha that is funny, I cant wait until my child gets that age. I want to be able to sit back and not have to run after him. That takes up alot of my time. So most of the time I dont have time for anything.
