Exclamation Tips for a Clean Work Space - 06-12-2007, 08:40 PM

Get rid of pens and pencils you don’t need.

Have a drawer for pocket stuff. IE: Your keys, phone, PDA, wallet, bluetooth ear piece, etc.

Organize wires. It is easy to have half your desk covered with wires for various pieces of electronics. Moving some stuff off your desk can help. Some pieces of velcro wrapped around wires can go a long ways toward cleaning things up. Also make sure that you have wires that are long enough to tuck out of the way.

Say no to free booty
Yes, it’s hard to resist the ugly free crap at conferences and internal office events, but avoid taking them just because they’re free. This includes all those cheap pens, stickers, free magazines, brochures, postcards, and anything else that will likely end up littered on your desk.

Always Eat away from your desk

Anyone else, have anymore tips?

Default Office organization - 06-13-2007, 10:07 PM

I tried a while ago to organize my home office and had a terrible time sorting through all of the cords! Finally, I decided it was time to throw away the unessentials and get the proper storage solutions (along with a bigger desk). Luckily, I just started working for a home organizing company, ORG, and got some great tips from them. I think you might also like them... Check it out!

Keep essential organization tools like folders, staplers and a trash can at hand so your unnecessary junk won't pile up. It will also be convenient for you to throw away any garbage instead of just leaving it on your desk.

Those are some really great ideas. I forgot to say you should always have a trash can or sack close to hand so, as not to let the trash remain on your desk or to let it clutter the floor surrounding your desk.

I must admit that I do have trouble keeping my home office organized espeically my little electronics and accessories. But I did get these round boxes and the smallest one I started to use for this stuff. It is helping.

My husband has two metal bowls on his dresser. When he comes home from work, his regular routine is cleaning out his pockets and putting his keys, wallet, cash, etc.... in his bowls. Then once a month he divides up all his change and gives it to the kids. He is normally very disorganized, but I love that he does this.
