Default cassettes and vinyl - 06-06-2007, 02:24 PM

I have literally hundreds of old music cassettes that i have had since i was a nipper and probably over a hundred old vinyl records..

now most of the cassettes are in the wrong cases or in no case at all and the same goes for the records..

another factor is that i already have most of the music on cd now

so what should i do.. should i take the time to go through them all or perhaps i should just chuck the lot..

i dont think any of them would be worth anything major but you never know these days what people would buy.. should i research them first.. that could take weeks?

I've replaced almost all of my vinyl and cassettes with CDs. I have a few taped radio interviews on tape that I'd like to keep.

I don't think that there's much of a market for most of our old records and tapes.

I hear that the big box stores will soon no longer be stocking cassettes.

You should probably save those old stuff. I think if you throw something like that away you'll regret it when you find out how much it's going for on ebay or something. If you really gotta get rid of this stuff then take it down to a local record shop that buy/sell/trade that sorta thing and sell the lot.

I would agree I would not get rid of them without at least attempting to go through them first. Could you maybe take like an hour a day and start to go through them or even an hour every couple of days. You just never know anymore what things can go for or what people are willing to pay to add something to their collection.
