How do you keep your shoes, sneakers, books, etc organized? It can be hard to keep them from ending up all over

I find that I use tubs for all my old shoes that I wanna keep, or shoes that are out of season, like boots when it's summer time. I like to use over the door shoe display thingy for the shoes that I'm currently wearing. This makes it quick and easy for me to grab and go and keep them off the floor and outta my way when I'm not using them.

I agree with the tub theory. I use to just leave them on the bottom of the closet and then dig through them. Now I put away the ones that I am currently not wearing(after cleaning them up) and only have a few on the closet floor.

We use a velco, over-the-rod shoe rack at the entry. Only boots and rubbers stay on the closet floor. DH & ! have Ikea type shoe racks in the bottom of our closets for dressy shoes.

I have clear shoe boxes from The Container Store. The only shoes on my floor are 2 pair of boots, running shoes & slippers. I store the containers on the top shelf of my closet. This also helps me limit the number of shoes that I own. If I want a new pair I need to get rid of a pair so they all fit on the shelf.

I use a canvas shoe organizer that hangs in my closet for in-season shoes. Off-season shoes live in an underbed storage bin.
