My hubby is whats called a "pack rat" He is always bringing things home and leaving them in the house .I have boxes of tea sets taking up space in my house. I have an old wood stove he brought in ,in my dinning room. He loves old things and is always bring things in and then gets mad at me cause the house if such a wreck. Thing is, I have very small storage space for things. How do I convince him to build a shed for these things or stop collecting them?

Go buy a shed and put them in there yourself. Or buy shelving and put the sets up and enjoy them. I don't know how to cure a pack rat except for boxing the stuff up and putting it in a room.

I have an idea maybe you can try to sell some of the stuff on eBay or amazon. I know a lot of people who are pack rats that sale their "finds" on eBay. You could always just start giving away the items too or do what Carebear said and put up shelving and enjoy his finds lol...

I guess I will have to live with it then. My hubby would kill me if I sold what he calls his heirlooms. Things that will be valuable for the kids one day. Meanwhile I am cramped and cluttered from all his finds. Putting up shelves is out cause to much dusting and nowhere to put the shelves since we have limited space. But thanks for trying to help.

Have you thought about renting or buying one of those little storage buildings? The PODS I think that is what they are called are suppose to be really nice and not to expensive to rent. My sister has one where she keeps all her old furniture that she doesn't want to get rid of.

Have you sat down with him and talked about how is things are overtaking the place and that it is timem to get a shed?

Storage sheds are a great option. I actually rented one for a couple of months, while working on fixing up a house and I was able to keep an entire house full of furniture for myself and two children, as well as books, excess clothing, etc. For the really big one that I had, it only cost me $40 a month and I had tons and tons of room.

It would be really interesting to investigate the psychology of those who are pack rats and those who are not. What makes a person a pack rat - someone who can’t let go of things? Opposites tend to attract.
