Default Recycling Plastic - 07-13-2007, 03:57 AM

Do you recycle your plastic products? I try to do this, to help find a way to keep the landfills from getting overfilled.

I agree. I'm going to try this, because I have a lot of stuff to recycle!

Well, where I live recycling is big and it's important. So I try to keep my recycleables separate from my other trash and throw the recycle stuff in the recycle bin instead of the garbage bin.

Honestly I feel bad now that I actually don't recycle. I always say that I will oneday. And I have the littel bin outside my house but it goes unnoticed. I really need to work on that don't i. I feel awful now.

Recycling is easy once you start it. We separate out glass, plastic, newspapers, cans and aluminum. It just becomes a habit.

Alwaysright, perhaps it will help you to have some type of container in the house to take outside at the end of the day and dump into the recycling bin. That way you may be more inclined to recycle since you won't have to run outside every time you have something in your hand.

We were given a bin for glass, aluminum, and plastic. It all goes in the same bin, no other separation is needed. Therefore, I keep a small trash can in the laundry room, just a step or two from the kitchen. Throughout the day, recyclables are flattened and placed in that container. After the evening meal, it is taken outside and emptied into the recycling bin. Habit/routine!

The other item recycled here is newspapers. We keep a plastic grocery bag in the garage and at the end of each day, the newspaper is placed inside that grocery bag. On trash day, it is placed on top of the outside bin and both are taken to the curb for pick up.

It's not a chore, just a matter of routine. Find a routine that works for you. perhaps it is taking the recycling out in the morning when you leave for work. At least give it a try, won't you?
