Default Working with kids at home - 06-26-2007, 02:07 AM

Is there a good way to get work done with kids in the home. Should I wait until they go to bed and work all night? Then I won;t be able to spend any time with them at all. It's difficult.

How many ids and what age?

If they can entertain themselves then you need to ensure the room is kid prooff and let them play alone, do some work for about 15-20 minutes, chec in on them and then go back to work.

Or, wait until they sit down to eat.

I have four children and they are not all old enough to occupy themselves. I try to work while they nap and also a few hours at night. Yes, it is a challenge and I don't know that there is a good way to do it.

Fortunately they are teens. SO I am lucky in that they can entertain themselves

I have a little tator tot and I work when he's napping. When I wake up I try and stop what I'm doing and play with him for a little bit. It's hard, but I try and manage. Sometimes I put him on my lap and try to type. It keeps him occupied and I am able to do some work.

Hi,
It is difficult to do your work with kids. If you have morethan one, you can train them with some play,so that you can get free off them for some time. But.. it is not advisable to leave them alone unattended. It is better to forget yourjob when they are awake. Our children aremore important thanwork. Still if you feel that you have to work, better to find a child care unit or play school to look after them for a limited period. That is more safe than leaving them alone to take care of themselves..!

I find that with my kids if I give them some time or a whole day I can tell them I have to work now. It works with them and if they protest it just too bad. They do like to eat so I have to earn the money to eat. They understand that. You have to give them your time and tell them now you have to give you some of your time now.

I have to keep my young one entertained but can get quite alot done while she is in "baby jail". I hope it gets better as she grows.
