I always put things off. I would join a procrastinators club, but I can never find the time! Seriously, I know I need to get rid of the clutter in my house, but I always find a way to do something else. What can I do?

All habits are hard to break and they take time to adapt into your daily routine. Take some time during the week and set apart a few minutes to do some organizing. Start small with a few minutes and then work towards an hour or a day of the week. Write the task you would like to tackle on a list and cross them off when you are done. Do this for a few minutes daily and you will no longer have to join the procrastinators club.

Question me too - 06-14-2007, 05:26 PM

I do the same thing. I would rather sit on the pc than declutter .But my reason being all the clutter belongs to other family members and I end up just moving it from one place to another!

I think it is best to take small steps when trying to get organized and get cleaned up.

First of all, I make daily lists that help me keep things in order and keep me on track. Secondly, I enlist the help of my children... they made a good portion of the mess, so I see no reason why they can't clean it up. Getting those family members to pick up after themselves will make a HUGE difference

Baby steps. Take things one day at a time. You need to organize your time. I was taught to take a datebook/daytimer. I chose colours (these are highlighters) I made a list for example me time could be pink highlighter, working I use green, etc, Once I established the colours and the subject that goes with the colours, I started marking my daytimer monthly calendar and this makes it easier to see at a glance. If for example I was to watch tv in the morning, I would use the colour that matches with me time and if in the afternoon I was to go to work I would use the green marker and colour in half of the day with the green and half the day with me time pink. Once you figure all this out and get used to it, you will find you have time for anything. I also learned to divide your rooms by zones. You should put an alarm in the room you're working in and set it for 15 mins. You should spend only 15 mins at a time per things you are doing. I hope this helps.
