Yeah i have figured out that if you just clean one room at a time you wont have any problems and or feel rushed. I try to clean all my rooms all at once which creates turmoil for me. And I end up never getting it done.
I agree that you should take it one room at a time. Make your goal to organize and clean that room and then when you are done you can move on. If you think about the whole house you might "scare" yourself and not get anything done.
I'm currently tackling my kitchen and pantry. I started in the pantry, and took about four grocery bags of old cookbooks to a local secondhand store which is run by Anglican nuns, and dropped off the cookbooks for them to sell. I know they'll use the money wisely, and I'm happy that my shelves are now neater. I'm putting aside all kinds of things for the church yard sale in July, as well.
One room at a time eh? Maybe this is the push that I need reading your posts to actually tackle the bedroom today. I know there's probably TONS of junk underneath the bed, urgh, it's such a pain to crawl down to clean under there. Any other ideas?
One room at a time is a great idea. Having two boys at home this makes it so much easier and I feel like I have accomplished something.
Another tip that I have used is to divide the room in half. I tackle one half and then the other and it doesn't seem as big of a task when you look at the whole room that needs to be done.
It is easy to get discouraged if you look at the whole house. I even go down smaller than 1 room. I do one corner of a room as a goal, then go to the next corner. Seems to give me a little victory and pep me up?
