Default Outside Toys - 06-14-2007, 11:25 PM

What tips do you all have for storing outside toys? For some reason my back yard is always cluttered with toys. Some good some all broken to pieces. I am trying to teach my boys to pick up before they come in each evenining but it doesn't seem to work.

When my kids were little, I had one of those big rubbermaid storage sheds for my back yard. It was perfect for storing away all of their outside toys and, as they got older and started keeping less and less, it became a perfect place for my lawn and gardening equipment.

Broken stuff-- trash. Right away.

I have bins with lids outside and some old book shelves to store toys.

At the end of every play--- clean it up or your not allowed to play outside anymore.

I used to have a big basket where they kept them. It looks nice and clean

You will be amazed if you just throw away the broken ones and then let them pick two or three to play with a day. They have to exchange the toys....bring one back to the storage area that you set up.....when they want a new one. It takes awhile for them to learn this but then it works.

This sounds like a pretty good idea to me. This is one way to get them involved.
