Uses for Storage Organization Containers
For those trying to get started on eliminating the clutter in their lives, storage organization boxes and containers are a great way to start. There are so many great storage solutions on the market today that it is easy to find the perfect box or container for every room and every purpose.
Choosing the right storage organization containers start with a frank assessment of your space. Lets take the home office for example. The general purpose is to conduct business at home, pay household bills, and store important family and work papers. However, each individual household will have different needs. Do you have a lot of paperwork? Do you have a home business with lots of samples to store? Do you have a lot of old books and items that should be purged before you start?
Once you have determined what you have, take some time before buying storage organization containers to sort through your items. Be ruthless. If you haven’t recently used an item and aren’t sure if you need it, chances are it is just clutter and can be given to charity or just thrown out.
Then, looking at what is left as items you need, divide the pile into two categories – things you need to access on a regular basis, and long term storage items that you need to keep but can tuck into a closet or under a bed. For the long term storage items a great storage organization container are clear, airtight bins. The airtight nature will keep dust, mold, and pests away from important documents. Clear bins and boxes are perfect because you can always see what is inside the containers and you never forget what you have kept, even if you don’t access a box for months at a time.
For the daily storage items, take measurements of their sizes and notes about quantity that you can take with you to the local organization store or chain store where you are purchasing storage organization containers.
Think about what you have. If you have lots of loose papers, buy boxes that accommodate file folders. If you have magazines, try different storage containers specifically designed to hold magazines. For photos, remember to buy albums or photo boxes that are acid free so that they don’t damage your pictures. Whatever you do, only buy containers for the items you actually have and make sure that your items will fit. Empty, useless storage organization containers are just more clutter!
