Organize Your Paper
I get lots and lots of emails from people who go through hundreds of trees a year printing out articles and information from the internet. Of course, our computers give us a line to an excessive amount of information and we have a tendency to want to take it all in and keep every bit of info we see.
But what we get is not only information overload, but piles and piles of paper sitting on our desks and counters.
Here's what I like to do to get the excess info under control:
Print out articles/information as you wish and place the paper in a neat little pile next to your computer. Don't read anything right there and then, but wait until the end of the day when everything you've gathered is in the pile.
Then just staple the days info together and read it all in one sitting, preferably at the end of the day when you have a little more time. What also may happen is some of the information you thought was relevant or important at the time has lost its appeal. You can just skip over those pages or just toss them in the trash (this will happen more often than you think).
But what you end up with is a neat little personal magazine, all neatly combined with a vast and varying amount of information that interests you.
You should also date the top page and if you don't get a chance to read everything that night, three-hole punch the pile and stick it in a three-ring binder (if you already have The Guide you know how much I love using binders to get a grip on paper.)
This should eliminate some of those loose, annoying piles of paper scattered around your home (or office.)
